Have You Been Arrested by the NYPD?

Clearly, the NYPD is not joking when it comes to making arrests, especially gun arrests. So, what should you do if the NYPD tries to arrest you or if the NYPD has already arrested you? First, keep in mind that you have rights. For example, you have the right to know why a police officer is arresting you. You also have the right to remain silent, which means you don’t have to answer any questions about the alleged crime. It is crucial that you invoke this right immediately after an arrest. Lastly, you have the right to an attorney. You have the right to have an attorney present with you while you’re answering an officer’s question.

Secondly, if arrested, avoid;

  • arguing with the police
  • resisting arrest
  • delaying to contact an attorney
